Jeep Tour – Phu Quoc | Jungle hiking, Starfish Beach & the Wild North
One Jeep. One day. The wild island.
You're rattling down a red-dirt jungle road in a vintage US Army Jeep, cold beer already open, a local guide pointing out monkey tracks in the mud. This is not a group tour. This is not a minibus with 20 strangers. This is a private Jeep tour in Phu Quoc — your vehicle, your pace, your day.
Ahead: a warrior's temple, fragrant pepper farms, a jungle hike in Phu Quoc National Park leading to a hidden freshwater pool — where wild monkeys watch you from the canopy above. The north of Phu Quoc is one of the last places in Vietnam where you can walk through primary rainforest and spot macaques in their natural habitat, completely undisturbed.
Then: a floating fishing village straight out of another century, and a private boat to Ham Rong — the most secluded stretch of Starfish Beach on the island. The kind of place where the national park jungle meets the sea, starfish cover the shallows, and the crowds never reach.
This full-day private Jeep adventure in northern Phu Quoc takes you through everything the island's north has been hiding — raw, untouched, and completely off the tourist trail. Snorkeling gear included so you can explore the starfish and seagrass beds up close. Beer included so you enjoy every kilometer of the ride.

What makes this different
-
🛻 A real vintage Army Jeep — not a modern SUV This is an original US military Jeep from the Vietnam War era. Open sides, raw power, and enough character to make every jungle road feel like an expedition. The kind of vehicle that turns heads in every village you pass through.
-
🦟 Your guide goes everywhere with you — on foot, in the jungle, on the boat Not a driver who waits by the Jeep. A local guide who walks the trails with you, points out the monkeys before you even see them, knows which pepper vine to taste, and grew up fishing in waters around Rach Vem.
-
🐒 Wild monkey spotting in primary rainforest Phu Quoc National Park is home to large populations of long-tailed macaques. On the jungle trail to the freshwater pool, encounters are common — and completely wild. No feeding, no cages, no performance. Just monkeys doing monkey things in a 98% undisturbed rainforest.
-
🚤 Private boat to Ham Rong — a beach most tourists never find Ham Rong is not on the standard tour map. It sits at the tip of a cape, hidden between the jungle and the sea, reachable only by boat. A thousand starfish in the shallows, zero crowds, and nothing behind you but national park.
-
🍽️ Lunch in a floating fishing village — included Not a tourist restaurant. A real meal cooked from the day's catch in Rach Vem — a village built on stilts above the sea. Traditional recipes, fresh seafood, and a vegan/non-seafood version always available.
-
🍺 Cold beer and soft drink — all day, from the first kilometer Ice box in the Jeep from the moment we pick you up. Because the best jungle roads are better with a cold one in hand.
-
🤿 Snorkeling gear on the boat — explore the starfish beds up close Most people just look at the starfish from the shore. With a mask and snorkel you can drop into the seagrass beds and find starfish, reef fish, and seahorses inches from your face.

🕐 Your Day — Step by Step - Jeep Tour Phu Quoc
🏨 08:00–09:00 — Hotel Pickup Your Jeep pulls up directly at your hotel
Exact time confirmed after booking, built around your schedule. The ice box is already loaded with cold beer and drinks. The adventure starts the moment you climb in.
⛩️ Đền Thờ Nguyễn Trung Trực
A Warrior's Temple First stop: a temple dedicated to Nguyễn Trung Trực, one of Vietnam's most celebrated resistance heroes — a man who fought the French with nothing but fishing boats and refused to surrender even when offered his freedom. The temple is a local pilgrimage site, fragrant with incense, and almost never visited by tourists. A quiet, powerful place to start the day.
🐝 Bee Farm
Honey Straight from the Comb A working bee farm deep in the northern countryside. Watch the hives up close, taste raw Phu Quoc honey, and learn how the island's jungle produces some of the most distinctive honey in Vietnam. Your guide translates everything — and yes, the bees are very much alive and very much present.
🌿 Pepper Farm
The Spice That Built Phu Quoc Phu Quoc pepper is world-famous for a reason. Walk through the vines, smell the difference between red and black peppercorns, and hear the story of how this small island became one of the most important pepper-producing regions in Asia. Samples included — and you'll never look at a pepper grinder the same way again.
🌳 Phu Quoc National Park
Jungle Trail & Freshwater Pool The Jeep leaves the road and enters the jungle. This is where the day shifts gear.
-
A short off-road trail leads into primary rainforest — giant ancient trees, butterflies, jungle birds, and in 98% of visits: wild long-tailed macaques moving through the canopy above you. No feeding, no cages. Just monkeys living their lives in one of the last intact rainforests in southern Vietnam.
-
The trail leads to a hidden freshwater pool — a natural jungle waterhole fed by a small cascade. Cool off, drink the crystal-clear water straight from the stream, or just sit and listen to the forest around you.
-
Not a hiker? No pressure. A shorter trail to the largest ancient trees makes for extraordinary photos without breaking a sweat. You go as far as you want.
-
🚙 Offroad Drive — Try the Wheel Back in the Jeep, the road gets rougher — and more fun. Want to take the wheel on a jungle trail? This is your moment. Your guide rides shotgun, the track is clear, and a vintage Army Jeep handles terrain that would stop anything else.
🚤 Rach Vem — Floating Fishing Village & Lunch You arrive at Rach Vem
A fishing village built entirely on stilts above the sea. Walk the wooden walkways between houses, watch fishermen sort the morning's catch, and peer into the floating oyster and fish farms below your feet.
-
Then lunch. A proper meal cooked from traditional Rach Vem recipes — fresh seafood, local vegetables, rice, and flavours you won't find in any restaurant in the south of the island. Vegan and non-seafood versions always available — just let us know when booking.
-
While you're here, look down from the jetty into the shallows. The water around the village is thick with starfish — you can spot them without even getting your feet wet.
🚤 Private Boat to Ham Rong
The Secret Starfish Beach From Rach Vem, you board a traditional wooden boat and head for Cape Ham Rong — the most hidden stretch of Starfish Beach on the island.
-
This is not the busy part of Starfish Beach. Ham Rong sits at the far tip of the cape, reachable only by boat, backed by national park jungle and facing open sea. A natural beach that the tourist crowds simply never reach.
-
Thousands of starfish in the shallows. Crystal water. Jungle behind you. Nothing else.
-
Relax on the beach, swim, take photos, or grab your snorkeling gear — the seagrass beds around Ham Rong are full of starfish up close, reef fish, and if you're lucky, seahorses hiding in the grass. Beer and soft drinks come with you on the boat. Stay as long as you want — usually 1 to 2 hours, but the boat leaves when you're ready.
🏨 15:00–17:00 — Back to Your Hotel
The boat returns to Rach Vem, you climb back into the Jeep, and the ride home takes you through quiet northern villages and open countryside — a slow, scenic wind-down after a full day of everything the island has to offer.
You'll be back pleasantly tired, slightly salty, and with a memory card full of things most Phu Quoc visitors never see.

🐒 Wildlife — what we can promise and what we can't Wild monkey encounters happen on 98% of trips. We can't guarantee it — they're wild animals. But the jungle trail runs through their territory, and they're curious. Keep your snacks in your bag.
The north of Phu Quoc doesn't wait forever.
The jungle is still intact. The fishing village is still real. Ham Rong is still empty. But the island is changing fast — and places like this don't stay hidden for long.
One Jeep. One guide. One day that covers more of the real Phu Quoc than most visitors see in a week.
5,650,000 VND / Jeep — up to 3 people. Everything included.
Looking for something completely different? We also run private speedboat snorkeling tours through the coral reefs of the An Thoi Archipelago — clownfish, sea anemones, and underwater valleys you won't see from the shore.
